Challenge # 2 - Just Hide It!

When I started this LO I had thought to put all the pictures of my brother and new sister in law in a nice grouping, but I really wanted to highlight my very favourite one. So, to keep the focus on that picture, I "hid" the extra pictures in a mini file folder. So that's my challenge to you this week - to "hide" something on your LO! It could be extra pictures or journaling that you want to keep private. Please send your layouts to jenns@sweetpeascraps.com  by the 25th for your chance in the drawing.  Remember...we need 5 participants...so tell your friends to play along too!!  :) Sweet Pea Girl Vivian

Challenge #1 - Spending your time...

Since it's almost the 25th I thought this would be perfect as our first challenge for July!!  :)

How do you spend your time?  Is there something that you do just for you?  Whether it's reading, exercising, scrapbooking, or even taking a nap - document it!  It's might seem so mundane, but as time goes by it will be so fun to look back on and remember what you do right now that's just for you.  Can't wait to see what YOU do with your free time!!  Sweet Pea Girl Nicole.

Challenge #3 - Paper Piecing

I love creating "themed" pages, but I don't always like using over-the-top paper, stickers, ribbon.... to do so. One of my favorite ways to create a theme way "with style" is to paper piece. What else is nice about doing this, is you can create a page about ANY theme with ANY paper:) On the page below, I used google image to look up a picture of a sand castle. I then used that as a guide to create my own pattern for my castle. I used foam dots and inking to make the different layers pop. SO, my challenge for you this week is to give this a try!! It's fun and addicting!  Sweet Pea Girl Abbie

Please email your layouts to jenns@sweetpeascraps.com by the 25th of the month.  And a HUGE favor please!!  PLEASE resize your layouts to be no more than 500x500 pixels.  Normally it wouldn't be a big deal but I have dial up so it takes forever and a day for me to load them!!  Thanks SO much for your consideration!!  :)  Jenn

Challenge #1 - Keep it Basic

When I think of back to basics I think of all the things in my life that I count on as being constant, always there, always the same, things I can't survive without. The quote I found was "stick to the basics, hold onto your family and friends - they will never go out of fashion."
My challenge is to create a LO about something in that is a basic in your life or that you would like to be a basic in your life.  Sweet Pea Girl Heather

Challenge #4 - Imperfect Photos

Sometimes photos don't come out as we expected.  They are out of focus, the subject isn't smiling, and lots of other random things that don't make the picture 'perfect'.  But often times these are the photos that tell the story.  Recently I ran across this blurry photo that shows a period of my life that has since ended and I now cherish the picture and the memories it brings back.  Your challenge from me this week is to embrace that imperfect photo and tell the story behind it.   Sweet Pea Girl Nicole

Challenge #3 - Mat it up!!

Sometimes a good idea comes when you aren't expecting it to & that's what happened to me when I started working on this page. Originally I printed this picture of my hubby and youngest daughter as a 5x7 but that size seemed too large for the page, so I printed it again as a 4x6. Just by chance, I placed the two prints on top of each other, and this idea popped into my head. So, your challenge this week is to mat your picture with a picture! You could accomplish this the same way I did, or print the picture the same size twice, but trim the top photo down. I matted the smaller picture with a cream card stock and used pop dots to give it even more of a 3D effect. Have fun with it & remember to email your layouts to jenns@sweetpeascraps.com by the 25th for your chance in the drawing!! Sweet Pea Girl Vivian

And...I just have to ask..have you all seen the sneak peek for next month's kit??  Well here is a picture...does it not just SCREAM summer??  (which we are sposed to get SNOW on Wednesday so I'm really ready for summer!!)  OH!  And I forgot to say...that the most of the papers are double sided...double the fun!!  tee hee

Challenge #1 - Don't be Negative!!

HA!!  I LOVE that title.  Okay all you faithful challengers...I'm SO sorry that you didn't get your challenge this past week!!  I (jenn) just moved across the state of Montana.  Now remember..it's a REALLY BIG state!!  lol  We moved directly east about 6 hours.  My internet still isn't hooked up and I'm not sure what the heck is going on...I've been trekking to the library on a daily basis to check email etc. and today (sunday) I'm at the hospital as my  mom is on call and had an emergency.  So anyway....it's okay..I'll get it figured out..thank you SO much for your patience.  :)  Don't worry if you don't see your layouts from previous challenges posted...I'm going to be all over that tomorrow...then I will do the drawing!!

Okay..so the first challenge for MAY (can you believe that???) is from Sweet Pea Girl Abbie.  Don't forget to email your layouts to me by the 25th of the month for your chance in the drawing!!

One trend that i have been seeing for a while, that I love, is filling in the negative spaces in your chipboard letters.

You can either do this by leaving in the chipboard center, in like an "o" for example, or by cutting pattern paper to go in the center for extra detail.

On my page here, I added small pieces of cardstock to fill the centers.  I like how it makes the letters pop that much more!

I hope you give this a try! I would love to see what you create;)

Abbie
